Mission

b.t.w.e.n.’s mission is to espouse and revisit the teachings of Booker T. Washington, and other past and present African-American role models who have risen above adverse circumstances.

b.t.w.e.n.’s vision is to interrupt the cycle of destruction currently carried down from generation to generation, by creating
positive change through self-awareness.

Core Values

b.t.w.e.n.’s core values are based on the following God-given truths:

A belief that our greatest gifts come from within, and are strengthened by the storms in our life.

By looking within first, we can change ourselves and our circumstances from a point of strength, not weakness.

Each time we come out of an enormously life-changing storm, we must go back and get someone else.

We must teach others the way through, with truth, wisdom, and words and deeds of kindness.

• We are only responsible for teaching others, not changing others. Changing is up to them, and between them and God.
• In life we must continuously practice acts of character, kindness and beauty—modeling behavior for those around us and those coming after us.
